One of the most spectacular of the spring-flowering Magnolia trees and one of the easiest to grow. In early spring, 'Rustica Rubra' offers large, deep rosy violet, goblet-shaped flowers with creamy palest pink interiors and a pleasant citrusy smell.
The large, broad spreading, saucer magnolia develops a lovely open habit when mature. It is the most popular landscape magnolia because its large flowers are so colorful and numerous.
This tree is best known for its voluptuous, saucer-shaped flowers that appear in early spring before its large, oval, gray-green leaves emerge. The flowers are quick to emerge when weather becomes favourable.
It is ideal for open spaces and foundations that offer enough space for it to spread and develop its best canopy.

CONDITIONS: Needs a moist, organically rich well drained neutral to acid soil.
ASPECT: Full sun to part shade. Needs a protected location from strong winds and hot afternoon sun.
FEATURES: Stunning large pink/purple perfumed Magnolia flowers are borne on bare limbs in Spring. Will grow to 6m tall with an equivalent spread.
CARE: After planting water in well and provide extra water through dry periods. Fertilise in Spring and Autumn for best results.
