This fastigiate Hornbeam is deciduous tree with a compact branching habit.
The attractive leaves on the fastigiate Hornbeam are glossy and green, appearing yellow in Autumn
It will thrive in sunny positions within moist, well-drained soils and is low maintenance and tolerant of a wide range of environmental conditions, including air pollution, drought and partial shade.
The Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) hangs on to its leaves through winter, so that though it's deciduous tree, when used as a screen of it provides almost year-round cover that other deciduous trees do not.
May benefit from mulching after being planted. Requires minimal pruning if cultivated as a tree, yet responds well to heavy pruning if grown as a hedge/screen.
DELIVERY AVAILABLE TO METROPOLITAN ADELAIDE AND ADELAIDE HILLS
CONDITIONS: Prefers a relatively fertile and well drained soil but will tolerate various conditions. Frost hardy.
ASPECT: It will perform best in full sun but can tolerate some shade.
FEATURES: Beautiful foliage tree with deep yellow autumn colour. A moderate growing tree with height to 6m.
CARE: After planting water in well and provide extra water through dry periods when young. Will appreciate fertilising in spring to deliver best results.
